Agribid Mill
Agribid Mill is a collaborative group operated by 14 coffee-producing families, united in their commitment to sustainable, high-quality coffee production while preserving the natural environment through agroforestry practices.
Sustainable Agriculture
In response to increasing disease risks brought on by global warming, the group focuses on reducing chemical inputs and implementing soil conservation measures to achieve truly sustainable agriculture. Their dedication to environmental stewardship ensures both exceptional coffee quality and ecological preservation for future generations.
Innovative Varietal Development
Working in partnership with Costa Rica's renowned seed bank "CATIE," Agribid Mill conducts systematic varietal trials over approximately three years. Through careful selection and evaluation, they are gradually transitioning to exotic varieties that are perfectly adapted to their local terroir, including SL28, Villa Sarchi, and F1 hybrids.
Orange Typica: A Promising Success
One standout example is their Orange Typica variety. Despite being young trees as of 2022, this cultivar already demonstrates bright, juicy flavor characteristics that have garnered significant acclaim. As these trees mature and production volumes increase, Orange Typica represents the exciting future of specialty coffee at Agribid Mill.
Through their innovative approach combining traditional farming wisdom with modern sustainable practices, Agribid Mill continues to set new standards for quality and environmental responsibility in specialty coffee production.
